This privacy policy explains how Essay Barrister collects, uses, stores and protects personal information when you use our website, account area, AI essay generation tools, essay marking tool, payment features, emails and related services.
Essay Barrister is owned and operated by Business Bliss Consultants FZE, Creative Tower, Fujairah, PO Box 4422, United Arab Emirates.
For privacy questions or data protection requests, please contact us by email at [email protected]. We do not offer phone support and we do not accept visitors at our business address.
By using Essay Barrister, you agree that you have read this privacy policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the website or our services.
Who controls your personal data
Business Bliss Consultants FZE is the data controller for Essay Barrister. This means we decide how and why personal data is used when you use this website and our services.
Information we collect
We only collect information that we need to provide, run, improve and protect Essay Barrister.
Account information
When you register, we collect information such as your email address, username, password, account details, notification preferences and any other information you provide through your account.
When you register, you are asked to tick a box confirming:
I agree that Essay Barrister may email me, and I understand that I can manage my email preferences in My Account at any time. I also agree that essays are for study purposes only and must not be submitted as my own work, in line with Essay Barrister’s terms.
Registration confirmation will be emailed to you, allowing you access to the ‘My Account’ area. From here you can adjust your email preferences.
Essay requests and generated content
When you use our essay generation service, we collect the information you submit, such as:
- essay question or title;
- subject area;
- selected model or essay standard;
- selected word count;
- referencing style;
- optional notes;
- optional writing sample;
- generated essay content;
- grade guarantee report content, if applicable;
- reference checking report content, if applicable;
- job status information for async essay generation.
You should not include personal data, confidential information, sensitive information, client information, case-specific information, or anything you do not want processed by the service in an essay question, notes, writing sample, or generated content.
Free and Basic essays
Free and Basic essays are provided on the basis that they may be published publicly on our website and indexed by search engines. This is a fundamental feature of the free/Basic service and is explained on the website and in our terms.
If you do not want an essay to be published, you should use one of our paid private services instead.
Please do not submit personal data, confidential information, sensitive information, or anything you would not want associated with a publicly published essay when using the free or Basic service.
Where a free or Basic essay is generated and published, the generated essay is our content. We do not offer an automatic right to remove free or Basic essays simply because a user later changes their mind. Generating, hosting and publishing these essays forms part of the free/Basic service and costs us money to provide.
If you want a free or Basic essay removed, unpublished, anonymised, de-indexed, or subject to search engine removal requests, we may offer this as a separate paid service. This does not remove or limit any statutory rights you may have in relation to personal data. If you make a data protection request, we will consider it under applicable law and on its facts.
A request to delete your account does not automatically delete or unpublish free or Basic essays that were generated and published under the free/Basic service.
Paid private essays
Paid essays, including Advanced, Premium, Masters and other paid model outputs, are saved privately in your account area by default. They are not publicly visible on the website.
Paid private essays may include:
- generated essay content;
- reference reports;
- grade reports;
- post metadata;
- job status information;
- transaction records linked to credits used.
Our staff and developers may access this content only where needed to provide, maintain, support, troubleshoot, secure or improve the service.
Essay marking tool
If you use the essay marking tool, you may submit your own essay, assignment title, course title, level of study and optional marking criteria. We use that information to generate a marking report.
Marked essays and marking reports are saved privately in your account area. They are not published publicly.
Payment, credit and wallet information
If you buy credits or services, we collect and store information about your order, wallet balance, credit transactions, subscription or purchase, transaction status and related account records.
Payments are processed through third-party payment providers such as Stripe and WooCommerce payment integrations. We do not store your full card number or card security code. Payment providers may process payment data as independent controllers or processors depending on the transaction and their own terms.
Transactions may appear on bank statements with wording linked to Business Bliss, Uniwriter or Essay Barrister depending on the payment setup.
Email and notification preferences
You can manage certain email preferences in My Account. We store those choices as account preferences.
The current categories are:
- essential account and service emails;
- essay job update emails, such as completion or failure notifications;
- Essay Barrister features, offers, free credits and discounts;
- other services in the Essay Barrister group, including discounts and bonuses.
Essential account and service emails cannot be turned off because they are needed to operate your account, provide services, deal with payments, confirm registration, send security messages, and communicate important service information.
You can manage non-essential preferences in My Account at any time. You can alternatively unsubscribe from ‘features’ and ‘other services’ emails by clicking the Unsubscribe link in the bottom of any of those emails. Unsubscribing from ‘features’ will not unsubscribe you from ‘other services’, so it is easiest to manage your preferences with your account area.
Contact and support messages
If you contact us by email, contact form, support message or another channel, we collect the information you choose to send, including your email address and the content of your message.
We use this to respond to you, deal with support queries, investigate problems and keep a record of correspondence.
Technical, device and usage information
When you use the site, we may collect technical information such as:
- IP address;
- browser type;
- device information;
- operating system;
- pages visited;
- dates and times of access;
- log files;
- error logs;
- security events;
- cookie and analytics information.
We use this information for security, fraud prevention, debugging, analytics, performance monitoring and improving the site.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, keep you logged in, remember preferences, manage sessions, support shopping and checkout features, prevent abuse, and understand how the site is used.
We may use Google Analytics or similar analytics tools to understand website traffic and improve the service. Analytics providers may collect information such as page views, device information, approximate location, browser details and interactions with the website.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. If you disable cookies, parts of the website may not work properly, including login, account features, wallet features, checkout, essay generation and free essay limits.
Information processed by AI providers
When you request an essay, marking report, grade report, reference report or similar AI-generated output, the relevant prompt, instructions and submitted content may be sent to AI infrastructure providers such as OpenRouter and the model providers available through that service.
This is necessary to generate the content you request. You should not submit personal data, confidential information, sensitive information, client information, case details, privileged material or anything you do not want processed by AI providers.
We do not allow our AI providers to train on your data.
How we use your personal data
We use personal data for the following purposes.

Our legal basis is usually performance of a contract, or taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
To publish free and Basic essays
Where you use the free or Basic service, generated content may be published publicly on our website. This is part of the service you have chosen and is explained on the website and in our terms.
We rely on contract and our legitimate interests in operating the free/Basic service, maintaining a public library of generated content, protecting the commercial model of the service, and preventing misuse of the free service.

- payment and credit messages;
- essay completion notifications;
- essay failure or refund notifications;

- support replies.
These are service or transactional emails. They are not marketing emails.
To send marketing emails
We may send marketing emails about Essay Barrister features, offers, free credits, discounts, related tools and other services in the Essay Barrister group where we have a lawful basis to do so.
This may be because you have agreed to receive emails when registering, because you have set your email preferences in My Account, or because the law allows us to contact existing customers about similar products and services, with a clear right to opt out.
You can change your preferences in My Account and can unsubscribe from marketing emails. Service emails may still be sent where needed to provide the service.
To improve and maintain the service
We use data to troubleshoot, test, monitor and improve the website, prompts, model selection, reliability, safety, usability and support processes.
Where possible, we use aggregated or anonymised information for analysis.
To protect the site and prevent misuse
We use account, transaction, log and technical information to:
- detect misuse;
- prevent fraud;
- enforce our terms;
- investigate suspicious activity;
- protect accounts;
- prevent abuse of free services;
- maintain the security of the website.
To meet legal and accounting obligations
We process and keep certain information to comply with legal obligations, including accounting, tax, company records, payment records, data protection compliance and legal claims.
Legal bases for processing
Depending on the context, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- contract: to provide the services you request;
- legitimate interests: to run, secure, improve and protect the website, prevent misuse, publish free/Basic content as part of that service, and manage customer relationships;
- consent: where required, including certain marketing preferences or optional communications;
- legal obligation: for tax, accounting, compliance and legal duties;
- legal claims: where needed to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data.
We share data only where needed to run the website, provide the service, take payment, send email, generate AI content, store data, back up data, analyse usage, comply with law, or protect our rights.

Our website is hosted on DigitalOcean. Website files, databases, logs and related information may be stored or processed on DigitalOcean infrastructure.
Backups and storage
We may use Dropbox or similar cloud storage providers for backups. Backups may include account data, essays, reports, orders and other website data. Backups are used for restoration, security and continuity purposes.
Payments and ecommerce
We use WooCommerce and payment providers such as Stripe to process payments, orders, subscriptions and wallet credits. These providers process the information needed to complete payment and maintain transaction records.
AI generation providers
We use OpenRouter and AI model providers available through OpenRouter to process prompts and generate AI content. The content you submit for generation may be sent to these providers for the purpose of providing the service.
Email providers
We use Microsoft 365 and Post SMTP or similar tools to send site emails. We may also use Brevo or similar providers for marketing emails and email campaign management.
Analytics providers
We may use Google Analytics or similar providers to understand website use and improve the site.
Professional advisers and legal authorities
We may share information with accountants, legal advisers, regulators, law enforcement or courts where required or reasonably necessary.
International transfers
Business Bliss Consultants FZE is based in the UAE. Some of our providers and infrastructure may be based outside the UK or European Economic Area.
This means your personal data may be transferred to or accessed from countries outside the UK or EEA, including the UAE and the United States.
Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers, such as adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum, provider contractual terms, and other lawful transfer mechanisms.
How long we keep data
We keep personal data for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including to provide the service, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce terms and protect the site.
Account data
We keep account data while your account remains active. We may delete or anonymise dormant accounts after a long period of inactivity.
Paid private essays and reports
Paid essays, marking reports, grade reports and reference reports may remain in your private account area while your account is active, unless deleted as part of account management or in response to a valid request.
Free and Basic published essays
Free and Basic essays may remain publicly available because publication is a core feature of the free/Basic service. They are not automatically removed if you delete your account or ask for account erasure.
Requests concerning publicly published free/Basic essays will be considered under the applicable legal framework and our terms. We may also offer a separate paid removal, anonymisation or de-indexing service.
Payment and order data
We keep payment, order, wallet and transaction records for as long as needed for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, legal and business records.
Logs and security records
Technical logs, error logs and security records are kept for as long as needed to investigate issues, maintain security and improve the service.

Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including access controls, HTTPS, account security, restricted administrative access, backups, monitoring and secure hosting practices.
No website or online service can be guaranteed completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for using a secure email account.

Depending on where you live and the data protection law that applies, you may have rights to:
- access your personal data;
- correct inaccurate data;
- request erasure;
- restrict processing;
- object to processing;
- withdraw consent;
- request data portability;
- complain to a data protection authority.
To exercise your rights, contact [email protected].
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Rights are not absolute. For example, we may need to keep payment records for legal reasons, retain data needed for legal claims, or refuse erasure where an exception applies.
A request to delete your account does not automatically remove free or Basic essays that were generated and published under the free/Basic service. Such requests will be considered in accordance with applicable law, our terms and the circumstances of publication.
Marketing choices
You can manage email preferences in My Account. You can also use unsubscribe links in marketing emails where provided.
If you opt out of marketing, we may still send service emails that are necessary for your account, orders, credits, essay generation, security, legal notices or support.
Children
Essay Barrister is intended for students, adult learners and legal professionals. It is not aimed at children under 18. If you are under 18, do not use the website or submit personal information.
If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child without appropriate consent, we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
